Dear Candice,
needless to say, there isn't a lot of music
playing around here other than Blackmore's
Night (and the occasional Deep Purple/
Rainbow tune), and your music never fails to
bring a sense of peace and calm to me, and
for that I want to thank you.
My question, and I don't want to take too
much of your time with a long letter, is:
Where can I obtain the score for your music,
esp the recorder parts? Is that available
online somewhere? I'd like to learn that -
everybody seems to play guitar these days,
but not too many people play the recorder
anymore. I'd like to.
Thank you for your music.
Blessed be -
Uli
Hello Uli,
Thank you for your wonderful compliments!
It's funny , Ritchie often says that same
thing: everyone plays guitar- but it is
difficult to find people to play woodwinds!
I think the recorder is a beautiful choice
of instrument. I like to climb a tree or sit
by the beach and play the recorder or
pennywhistle- it resonates with nature
beautifully....
I could only find (of course!) a
guitar chord site..I
don't know if this helps at all.
Usually, we have guitar tabs for sale on the
merchandise page of Blackmoresnight.com and
those tabs include everything played on the
tracks whether it is recorder, keyboards or
drums...if you hear it - it will be in those
tabs. Other than that I say: just take the
instrument and play along by ear. A lot of
our songs have strong melody lines that are
easy to pick up...then its just a matter of
finding the right instrument in the right
key or the right fingering. Or coming up
with a harmony or alternate melody that
works...that leads you down some interesting
musical paths as well. Think outside the
box, or the book and just have fun with it!
Good luck and enjoy!
Love and light,

Aino
Hello Aino,
How sweet of you! Thank you for your
nice words... Usually when we are away
on tour my friends will play our cds for
our cats. They always come out of their
hiding places and look for us, thinking
that we have returned home! We have 2
cats: Hopscotch (my little furry
soulmate) he's a grey persian who wakes
me up each day by putting his face in
mine and tickling my nose with his
whiskers while purring at me. You can
see him on some of the magazine covers
with me , or on the promo photos. Check
"Written Word" or the "Images" page on
this site to see those pictures.
The second cat is Romper and he is a
ginger Maine Coon. His tail alone is
bigger than Hopscotch. We are sure he
will be a lion when he grows up. He has
the same birthday as Ritchie: April
14th. Hop was born on July 4th.
Outside my home we have new animal
family members! 2 new baby deer and lots
of baby bunnies outside today! As well
as the adult deer, raccoons, possums,
groundhogs, and 1 fox! Lots of animal
activity around this area....
Perhaps one day we will sing together!
Keep writing, playing and singing...see
you in Finland next time.
Love and light,
Candice
Hello
I was wondering on you`re Castles and Dreams
DVD, what key is the Shawm you play in? the
only music I know, other than my own, would
be you guys, and Geyers, and of course
Congratulations on you`r wedding!!! ( Mr.
and Mis. Blackmore) has a nice sound , Thank
you for you`r time Cindy....
Hello Cindy,
There are a couple of different shams that I
play- but the main one is my "C"shawm. Some
people would say that its not exactly a
shawm as traditionally shawms don't have
reedcaps, but this one was sold to me as
that title so I keep calling it a shawm.
I play it on Clock Ticks On, St Theresa, All
For One, Renaissance Faire, Cartouche and
many other songs. If this is the instrument
you are referring to , it is in "C".
By the way, Albert from Geyers will be
playing as an addition to our band with all
his woodwind intsruments on this upcoming
German tour. Thomas will join us onstage at
most of the gigs as well. Hope you get a
chance to see them! They are amazing
players...
Thanks for your wishes!
Love,
Candice
Dear Candice,
since some days I have my own internet and
not the internet in the office anymore. So
Iīm able to see this beautiful site from you
with the great fotos and so on.Itīs really
fantastic. We knows us such a long time now
and like you know,I took a lot of pictures
from you and Ritchie over all these years
since 1993.I have to say that you are
looking better with every year. Really !!!
The same is for your voice. So it is
clear, that you are my favourite female
singer !!!
You know, that I had a cancer at the gullet
nearly 5 years ago because to much of
heartburn. Now it seems to be healed !!! In
all these years and in bad times and in good
times I listened to your music and I have to
say that your music gave me a lot of
strongness and a lot of power. Especially
songs like Again someday,Still remember you
(which I chose as song for the case of dying
as my last song),Ghost of a rose and so many
others helped me so much in this bad past
time.So I want to say thank you so much for
these beautiful songs. Iīm sure that your
music helped me to be healed (beside the
point that I went to the check ups every 6
month of course).
Can you imagine that music can help to get
healed like people are telling that their
strong belief is helpful to get healed in
additional to the medicine ?
Beside the point :
Play minstrel play was Astridīs and my
wedding song.So you can see, that your music
accompanied my life in all important
situations.
Hope to see you soon !
Again thank you for your beautiful music
Regards to Ritchie
always yours
Olaf
Hello Olaf!
Thank you for your
sweet words...yes a lot has changed since
the early days when we first met! It was
many years ago now...
I was so sorry to hear that you were having
health problems. You are a strong spirit and
a survivor and of course with Astrid's love
and support I knew that you were in good
hands.
I absolutely believe in the healing power of
music. I think that music is a very powerful
medium and has the ability to control
emotions and help visualization and both of
those things can lead to stress relief and
healing of the physical as well as the
mental and emotional.
I am so happy to hear that you used Play
minstrel Play as your wedding song. It is
quite haunting; originally a French melody
named Tourdion by Pierre Attaignant. A
beautiful and timeless tune...as is your
marriage I am sure.
It always means so much for me to hear how
people use our music...from weddings to
births to while having surgeries to getting
through divorces through to funerals. To use
our music at the most poignant points in
their lives is an incredible compliment. I
am so grateful...
See you soon in Germany and kisses to
Astrid!
Love and light,
Candice
