Hello Candice!

My name is Cassandra, and I'm a first year college student at the University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign in the USA. Fresh out of high school! Hooray! I really wanted to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being such an inspirational singer and person. Your website is proof of how much you love your fans, and of how much you truly care! Although Blackmore's Night is famous worldwide, I feel like your music evokes such an intimate, nostalgic atmosphere. I feel right at home when I listen to the tunes of Blackmore's Night! It helps when I'm so far away from home.

Since arriving at college, I've just begun a brand new chapter in my life--but I still feel quite lost. Throughout my life, I've always felt compelled by the beauty of nature, the majestic spirit of the imagination, and by the power of scientific discovery. Thus, here I am, at college...with not a clue about what to do with my life! To be a fiction writer, or to be an environmental scientist? Amidst all of this pondering, I've managed to diminish a lot of my happiness. Along with some family problems, overwhelming amounts of school work, homesickness, and personal pressure, I have ultimately made myself quite confused and stressed. When I listen to Blackmore's Night, however, I am reminded of your positive, ethereal presence. Every time I look at your website, I smile! You seem to be truly happy with life and all of its offerings. I was just wondering...do you have any advice for how to stay happy and content with one's self? I realize that maintaining a sense of peaceful harmony is an art... and it's not easy for me! ^__^ I always try to do what makes me happy, but I think I'm missing part of the big picture. I would be so grateful if you could could help guide me in the right direction to a happier tomorrow!

Thank you so much, Candice! And congratulations on your marriage!
Always Dreaming,
Cassandra

Hello Cassandra,
I'm glad that you are still dreaming...never give that up! It defines us... First I just wanted to say thank you for your insightful words on our music and the thoughts and feelings it provokes in you. As you know, we pull inspiration of many of our songs from nature and her magic, legends and myths and melodies who's spirit transcends the ages... It's nice to hear those songs are felt deeply and make you feel at home.
I think that anytime you start a brave new venture, emotions overwhelm... It is a mixture of excitement and nervousness, loneliness and fear but thrilling aspects as well. The heart and mind sometimes cross paths on what to feel at different moments. Also, it's never easy to begin a new path no matter what it is in life you are doing. Any "1st" will always have these strange mixtures of emotions and I don't think you ever get used to them when trying something new. But as always, in time, those 1st steps become easier. You hit your stride, and before you know it are flying and enjoying the flight. I would bet that by now you are enjoying the newfound freedom of your college experience! You'll have so many wonderful memories later in life when you reflect on these moments...
We always tend to put more pressure on ourselves than anyone can ever put on us. You know, you can be both a writer and a scientist, right? You don't have to choose only one path. That is what is so wonderful about life. Even if you do choose a path you can always change it...its all part of the journey. It's easy for someone to say "Don't stress about it" , as you know, ultimately- that comes from within.
But it seems that since you are already aware what is needed and on the search for that "missing piece" (many people don't even realize anything is missing and just go through life angry or sad)...it sounds like you have discovered music is a good healing medium for you. That is always a good beginning. I find that returning to nature...walks through the forest, ocean air blowing through my hair, bird watching, observing stars or being around animals...these things bring me peace. I breathe them in and take their peace with me.
I hope you find your peace place...I hope you never stop dreaming and I hope for you that your dreams come true...
Love and light,
Candice

Hello Candice,

I was recently introduced to your wonderful voice on you tube. One of the first searches I did was on the band Helloween. I had not heard the duet you all did "Light the Universe. I am a disabled police officer and don't get a chance to get around to music stores like I used to. I was wondering if I would be able to find any of your cds at Sam Goody or if I needed to order off of the internet. Light the Universe is by far the best Helloween song and best done video I have ever heard. Your vocals are amazing, all I can ask now is how about a duet with Iron Maiden. I could just imagine what a duet with Bruce Dickinson would sound like. My wife also has been looking up different internet sites with your name and she loves your music. Just wondering how we can get hold of a cd? Thank you for your time and for reintroducing me to Helloween and introducing your music to my wife and I.
Sincerely, Tom

Hi Tom,
First of all, let me thank you for your service as a police officer. It has to be one of the hardest jobs in the world and I have a lot of respect for the men and women who wear the uniform and keep us safe.
Our cd's are usually available at any of the larger retail chains: Barnes and Nobles, Borders, Coconuts, Strawberries, etc. But if its difficult to get around I would say to call them first to make sure its in stock. Of course, what's better than ordering off the internet so it comes right to your home! You can always find our cds and dvds available on www.blackmoresnight.com or on www.amazon.com
I had a really good time doing that song with Helloween and shooting the video. They were on tour at the time and had to fly in from Sweden for the night just to film the video! We should it in Castle Veldenstein which was the same place we had shot our Castles and Dreams dvd a few years earlier.
I'm glad you like both the song and the video.
The closest I have gotten to Iron Maiden is watching on the sidelines while Ritchie played them in soccer. Steve Harris is an excellent players! I actually met Janick and Bruce back in 1990 in Montreal . I have to say they were so down to earth and seemed like really good guys. But no duets planned for the future... :)
I'm glad your wife is enjoying the music as well!
Much love,
Candice

I just wanted you to know that I love to sing your songs. I am planning on singing them for my Coven at Mabon and when I sang them "Dandelion Wine" they fell in love! We will sing it as a group when we have closing circle for our community. We have no band and no music but we sing to each other and the Lord and Lady. I am also going to sing a few others just because they are so much fun to listen to we can't help our selfs! I want to get your DVD's and would love to see you live. I was wondering if you plan to do any concerts here in the US? I am from Iowa so am directly in the Heartland. Please let me know because my Coven would love to see you!

Blessed Be!
Lunarprayers,
Coven of the Blessed Lady

Hello all at the Coven!
What a nice email...I'm glad you are all singing Dandelion Wine! That song represents so many things to me. Comradery, friendship, unity, memories...At the end of my brothers wedding everyone got together in a circle, held hands and sang that song as loud as they could! It was a heartwarming way to end the night...
We are actually performing this month and next month- though the closest we get to Iowa will be Chicago! So, I say pile everyone in a van or a bus and make it a road trip! Again, great memories to be had...
You can see our tourdates here for all the details
So, "we'll rasie a glass, maybe two, and we'll be thinking of you, until our paths cross again..."
Love and light,
Candice

Hello Candice
My name is Rosie and I am 14 years old. I am american but as one of my favourite songs is midwinter's night I can sing the first verse of it which I don't know what it means or what language it is. I think it is Russian but I'm probably wrong!!! Can you please tell me? Thank you for your time.
Rosie

Hello Rosie,
Actually Mid Winters Night is a song that the 1st verse is done in Provencal French. The original name is Maire, lei campagno, and although I changed the next part of the lyrics so they could be understood in English, I tried to keep the general idea and feel of what the song was saying in French language. Except, when you read the translation of the original lyrics, they are talking about not being able to sleep because the cows and chickens in the barn are keeping them awake! My lyrics were a bit more ethereal and romantic, I think. You can find information on the original songs here
The cds are by Terra Nova Consort which is in my list of top favorite Renaissance bands.
Love and light,
Candice

Merry Meet Candice,

The new love of my life introduced me to Blackmores Night on our first date July 1st, and when he found out you were to be in Lakewood NJ on 10/30 he went right away and got tickets. I am truly grateful for your music, since it now symbolizes our relationship; timeless, magical, truly beautiful, and FUN.
I was wondering if you would be playing either the NY Ren Faire, or the one in Lancaster PA next year.

Blessed Be,
Karen

Hi Karen,
What a beautiful way to link love, romance and music...I am so happy for you! Although we haven't "officially" played The PA or NY faires, they are the 2 faires we frequent most often during faire season. And, as the local faire goers know, we always bring our instruments and sit by a shady tree, or by a tudor home and just sit and play for hours when we are there. We usually just go spur of the moment, and we always go with friends so our whole group is in garb. But although we haven't been yet this year, doesn't mean we won't be! Renaissance Faire season in the area is just beginning so there is always time for a visit....
Of course, we will be doing a real concert with the full band in Philadelphia PA coming up! So check the tour date page on www.blackmoresnight.com  for details...
Love and light,
Candice
